About Ron / Business

I was in eye care publishing for 47 years.  From 1997-2018, I was a partner in Access Media Group (AMG).

AMG conceptualized and founded All About Vision (AAV), which launched in January 2000 to provide consumers with trustworthy information on eye health and vision correction. We grew the website to one million weekly visitors. Along the way we became one of Google’s first 50 customers, when they began selling ads in search results.

In 2016, AAV was acquired by Essilor, where I continued to work for two years until I retired in July 2018.

Previous to AAV, I co-founded Contact Lenses Today in partnership with Dr. Joe Barr and Contact Lens Spectrum. It was the very first e-newsletter in the vision industry.

From 1985-1992, I was publisher of Contact Lens Spectrum and a partner in Viscom Publications, which also launched Eyecare Business magazine.  We sold those publications (along with Optometric Management, which we had acquired in 1991) to Cardinal Business Media in 1994; they are now part of PentaVision.

Prior to that, I worked for Advisory Enterprises, which at the time published Optometric Management, Ophthalmology Management, Optical Management, Eye Talk and Contact Lens Forum magazines. The company also co-owned OptiFair, the predecessor to Vision Expo.

I currently serve on the GP Lens Institute’s development committee and provide several small non-profits with assistance in website hosting.
